A Luxurious Retreat: Our Experience at Hotel Visus in Pereira, Colombia

While in Colombia, we had the goal of getting away for a mini year-end/year-beginning planning retreat. We also were looking forward to getting away without kids for the first time since becoming parents of three! We considered a few options and settled on one that offered a luxurious stay with exceptional amenities while still being close to my in-laws house – Hotel Visus. However, we will definitely be checking out some of the other places that were a little further on future trips (looking at you, Glamping in Salento).

Hotel Visus is a boutique hotel & spa in Pereira. It overlooks a beautiful lake and offers panoramic views of the Colombian country side. In an intimate, beautifully decorated space, it has a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, and spa in addition to its seven rooms. We covered our entire stay ourselves, and we couldn’t have been more happy with the value and level of service we experienced.

Room options include one premium suite, three junior suites, and three deluxe rooms, all of which are priced extremely reasonably for a luxury hotel for an American traveler. We booked very last minute, so we ended up with one of the last remaining rooms – the Perseus deluxe room. Even though it was in the “lowest” level of room types, this room was extremely spacious.

We had a sitting area where we were able to work on our annual planning as well as enjoy breakfast in the morning. The bathroom was nicely appointed despite not having a bathtub. Also, the fact that it opened right up to the pool area was convenient but did decrease privacy at times. Overall, our room was extremely clean, and we enjoyed the robes and slippers available.

We greatly enjoyed the food during our stay, as well. We had drinks from the bar, appetizers by the pool, dinner at the restaurant, and breakfast in our room. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented.

The hotel also helped us coordinate spa appointments when we booked. We booked a spa package for the evening of our stay that included welcome beverages, sauna time, jacuzzi time, and full body massages for the two of us – all of this takes place mostly outdoors and is located just beyond the hotel, so you are able to continue taking in the beautiful views. We highly recommend wearing your swim suit for the experience! It was very relaxing and affordable. We enjoyed our appointments so much, we purchased a gift card for my in-laws as a thank you for helping us make that stay possible.

If you are interested in more information about Hotel Visus, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment. And one extra tip when researching – their website includes significantly more information, especially around their spa services, if you use the Spanish version of the site.

Enjoy!
