Escape Boston Logan Layovers with Luxury: Inside the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club

I was really excited to have a longer “layover” (I say in quotes because it wasn’t between flights, it was between my Amtrak train and my flight that just wouldn’t line up) in Boston when I was on a trip for my work this fall. Why? Because at the time, Boston Logan International Airport was one of only a two airports that had Chase Sapphire Lounges (they have since opened more and currently, as of January 2024, have four open lounges), and it was the only one in the US.

The fact that I don’t travel to BOS frequently made me confident that using my one complimentary visit pass for the calendar year (thanks to holding the Capital One Venture X and activating my Priority Pass membership) was a great idea. And the fact that I was going later in the fall meant I would be able to use it again in the next calendar year very soon anyway.

My first impressions of the lounge were great – it felt spacious, had lots of seating, and I was excited to try the food. Before this visit, I had only ever been to two other lounges – the Capital One Lounge (on multiple occasions, and with our three kids – more coming soon on this!) and the United Club, both in Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

I’ve broken out the rest of this post into sections for Seating, Food & Drink, Family Friendliness, and Access, so read on for more information about this lounge!

Seating

As I mentioned, this lounge is very spacious and has lots of seating options. It also has lots of natural light and overlooks a long stretch of gates and runways in addition to featuring views of the iconic Boston Harbor. I am getting a little ahead of myself and will dive deeper into these in the Food & Drink section, but there is a bar, coffee station, buffet, and menu for made-to-order local dishes. There is also a wellness area with massage chairs and private bathrooms with showers (both of which were very booked up during my visit, so I would advise booking these in advance as your schedule allows). There is a nursing room, family area, and seating galore. It was a very busy lounge, but I didn’t have an issue finding a table during my two hour stay.

Food & Drink

I teased this above a bit and even added a picture of my first run through the buffet above, but the food selection was both large and delicious. They do a great job of incorporating local flavors and cuisine into their options. The buffet line featured 5+ individually-plated options (brussel sprouts, croquetes, and gazpacho, to name a few) as well as desserts, but it didn’t stop there. They also had a menu you could access via the QR code on your table to order freshly-prepared dishes. My top choices from the menu when I was visiting were either the American Burger or the Shrimp Risotto (which was my ultimate choice – it was delicious). Beyond the food, you could order drinks at the bar or through the QR code and there was a coffee station as well as a mini fridge stocked with sparkling water and other beverages.

Family Friendliness

Even though I wasn’t traveling with my kids nor did I see any families in the lounge itself, I found the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club to be very family friendly. In fact, the least crowded space was the Family Room which featured a kids play area, high chair, and a few toys. There was also a Nursing Room (that I didn’t get a chance to peak into) as well as a nice changing area in the bathrooms. I think this could be a great place to hang out for families with kids since there are plenty of food and drink options and there is even a separate room for corralling your kiddos.

Access

The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club is located in Boston, MA, at the Boston Logan International Airport between gates B40 and B39.

There are a few options to get in to the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club (in Boston or anywhere there is a lounge in the US):

  • Having a Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card and a Priority Pass membership through that card will get you an unlimited number of visits with up to two complimentary guests per visit.
  • Having a Priority Pass membership through any other means (through another credit card or through just outright purchasing the membership) will get you (and only you, no guests) one visit per calendar year. Any visit after your first per calendar year or any guests will cost you $75 per person per visit.
  • If you don’t hold any Priority Pass membership, you can buy access to the lounge for $100 per person per visit.

You can enter the lounge three hours before a departure flight, and you cannot use the lounge upon arrival if BOS is your final destination.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club in BOS, and I hope to return again or check out one of the other Chase Sapphire Lounges that have been opening up around the country. If you visit or have visited before, let me know your thoughts!
