About Me

Well, hello there! My name is Callie, and I’m the face behind the words here at The Duque Travelers. I’m so happy you’re here!

A few interesting tidbits about me: I am back to calling the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota home after spending four years in Colorado; I love adventuring with my family and babywearing; and my drink of choice is either a vanilla latte or a Dr. Pepper. It is so nice to meet you!

My husband, Luis, and I started this blog back in 2017 a few months before we even were married. Since then we have gotten married and added three little kiddos – Leo (4), Lucia (2), and Emmanuel (1) – and a puppy to our crew. One thing hasn’t changed though … we still love to travel and experience cultures around the world!

That’s us in La Paz, Bolivia in 2016!

Luis is from Colombia, and I am from the United States. I studied Spanish as one of my undergraduate degrees and taught high school AP Spanish classes in the past. We value both of our cultures (and learning about new ones!) and are raising our kiddos bilingually.

Here I’ll be sharing about all things travel and how we experience our cultures at home. Being a traveler means incorporating what you’ve learned from your travels into everyday life – something we strive to do in our home daily! I’ll also be sharing about how we are raising our kiddos to know and love their Colombian and American heritages and how we incorporate both Spanish and English into our daily life!

I hope I can inspire and accompany you on your traveler lifestyle. And before I let you go, I would love to invite you to SUBSCRIBE to my newsletter! You’ll receive updates with my latest blog posts and be the first to know about fun freebies!
